New Leisure and Retail scheme starts on site

We are pleased to confirm that the new Leisure and Retail scheme in Fieldon Bridge has started work on site.

The scheme comprises over 145,000ft2 of leisure and retail space split into 20 Units. Confirmed key tenants so far include Reel Cinemas, Superbowl, The Range, Dominos and Anytime Fitness.

Castle have been working on the scheme for over five years, supporting the employer and Create Architecture/ Studio Anyo Architects through various planning applications, assisting the client with an agreed ground remediation strategy, supporting the client with their funding, along with tendering and subsequent renegotiations of the agreed Contract Sum. After working on the scheme for such a long time it is great to see a piece of derelict and contaminated land being redeveloped into an exciting Leisure and Retail Park.

New Care Village Starts on Site

We are pleased to announce that Phase One of Inspired Villages Ampfield Meadows village has started works on site.

The development comprises of 57 luxury later living apartments, and a Village Centre comprising of a restaurant, dining area, gymnasium, swimming pool, wellness centre, hair salon, library, arts and crafts centre, all set in sympathetic landscaped grounds.
The village is set to function via net zero carbon regulated energy.

The development is due for completion in 2024.

Castle appointed by Fusion Residential on New Student Residential Scheme in Portsmouth

Castle are pleased to announce that they have been appointed to act as Cost Consultant for a new Student Residential Scheme in Portsmouth for Fusion Residential.

The scheme comprises the demolition of existing retail shops on Arundel Street in Portsmouth and the new build of a student accommodation block.

The Tower consists on a five storey element, nineteen storey element and a final twenty six storey element.

The new build student residential scheme is to provide an exciting Social Space 591nr rooms consisting of 237nr Cluster Rooms, 40nr twodios, 170nr social studies rooms, 93nr studios and 11nr one bed units.

Castle appointed as Cost Consultants on Student Residential Scheme in Nottingham

Castle are pleased to announce that they have been appointed to act as Cost Consultants for a new Student Residential Scheme in Nottingham for Fusion Residential.

The scheme comprises the demolition of existing offices adjacent to King Edward Street in Nottingham and the new build of a Student Residential accommodation block.

The new build student residential scheme is to provide an exciting Social Space 552nr rooms consisting of 150nr Studios, 102nr Social Studios, 160nr Ensuite Cluster Rooms, 106nr bed twodios, 34nr one bed units.

Anchor Newmarket Starts on Site

We are delighted to announce that the Anchor Residential Care Home in Newmarket has started works on site.

The scheme comprises the construction of a new 69 apartment residential care home, comprising 18 nr one bed and 51 nr two bed with communal facilities plus associated external works.

The communal facilities include for a main kitchen/ servery, café/ lounge, staff rooms and general circulation.

Anchor Bishopstoke Park Phase Three Handed Over

Bishopstoke Park Phase Three has reached Practical Completion and been handed over.

Phase Three comprised 49nr High Quality Assisted Living units built in five blocks all set in woodland.

Phase three is the final phase at Bishopstoke Park which has in total delivered a Village Core which includes a restaurant, café, library, meeting rooms, craft room together with 48 care bedrooms, 19 close care units, 36 linked assisted living units, restored the Mount which was a building of local significance plus a further 160 Assisted Living Units all set in landscaped grounds

Castle Shortlisted for National RICS Social Impact Awards 2020

Castle are delighted to announce that the Emporium project in birmingham has been shortlisted for the National RICS Social Impact Awards in the Heritage category for the West Midlands.

The award ceremony was originally planned to take place on the 24th September in London however due to Covid restrictions the award ceremony will now take place digitally in November.

Castle win West Midlands RICS Social Impact Awards Heritage Category

Castle are thrilled to announce that the Emporium project in Birmingham has won the Heritage Category of the RICS Social Impact Awards 2020.

Castle Construction Consultants acted as Project Manager and Cost Manager for CZero on the development of new Student Residential Accommodation and the refurbishment of a Grade 2 Listed Building at Bartholomew Row in Birmingham.

The whole scheme consists of the refurbishment of the old Christopher Wray Lighting Factory into ancillary student facilities, artist studios and workshops, duplex studio units and new office space, alongside a bold new tower with 166 nr high quality student apartments. In addition Leisure
space has been created at the ground floor of the tower.

The head judge for the West Midlands, Bryony Martin said on The Emporium: “The project took over seven years of planning and negotiation to complete. The historic redundant factory buildings were in very poor condition and were not financially viable to convert or restore on their own. Construction of a new building on adjacent land, provided the financial balance to create a sustainable project. Saved from demolition, the historic significance of the site has been retained, with a new high standard building being constructed, seamlessly blending with the historic buildings, reflecting the evolvement of the site.”

Castle have been appointed by Shearer Property Group to act as Contract Administrator and Cost Manager on the extension and refurbishment of a number of retail units at their retail arcade in St Martin’s Square Leicester.

Castle have been appointed to act as Cost Manager on the new Extra Care Home for Anchor 2020 in York.

Castle have been appointed by one of their key commercial clients to provide QS services on one of their personal residential projects at the old Vicarage, Shustoke.

Castle are providing post contract QS services and contract administration on a high end luxury refurbishment and extension of a period property.

The project involves full soft strip and refurbishment including internal reconfiguration to convert this period property into a modern luxury family residence. We are also undertaking a substantial extension to produce an orangery which will accommodate the family living, dining and kitchen space and a new independent 3 car garage and garden room will be built within the extensive grounds.

Castle continue to build on their existing relationship with Inspired Villages Group and can confirm our appointment as Cost Consultant for the Cost Planning stage on the Wellcross Farm Care Village in West Sussex.

The scheme at Wellcross Farm in Horsham consists of a main Village Core building which provides a number of amenities including a spa, swimming pool, restaurant, shop, hair and beauty salon and library along with Village apartments and Penthouses. Castle have been appointed to act as Project Manager and Cost Manager on the conversion of an empty office building into medium quality apartments within central Stafford. The site is at Foregate House, Foregate Street, Stafford.

The project involves substantial conversion work to the existing building to change the use of the building to residential. We will also be designing and constructing a new roof top extension to provide 24 apartments.

Castle Construction Consultants have been appointed by Daejan Retail Properties to act as Employers Agent and Cost Consultant on the subdivision a former Supermarket in Newport, Shropshire into 6 individual retail units including new services and external works.

Castle have been appointed to act as Cost Managers on a Student Residential Scheme in Hatfield for Fusion Residential.

The scheme comprise of the demolition of an existing hotel extension and the refurbishment and extension of the listed building to provide a 56 bedroom aparthotel supported by a high quality communal facilities including a bar, dining room and a ‘business hub’.
There will be a further 308 beds of high quality, managed student accommodation within the context of a significantly enhanced public realm and supported by parking spaces, secure cycle parking, servicing, refuse facilities.

Castle appointed on Cinema, Retail and Leisure scheme in the North East

Castle have been appointed as Contract Administrators and Cost Managers on a mixed use scheme in Fieldon Bridge.

The scheme consists of a new 7 screen Cinema, restaurants, and mixed use retail

The site has previously been used for a number of purposes so the current scheme includes clearing the site and designing the buildings and external works to suit the challenging ground conditions.

The scheme also includes constructing S278 works to the adjacent transport networks and developing out the scheme.

Castle have been appointed to act as Project Managers, Contract Administrators and Cost Managers on a PRS (private rented sector) scheme on Hanley Street in the Gun Quarter, Birmingham.

The scheme consists of 250 units including studios, one bed, two bed and some three bed apartments with commercial space for shops, offices and general business use. There will also be a roof garden with pavilions for communal use by residents. The scheme is also being designed to be future proof with high sustainability credentials and low energy use.

The Emporium Starts on Site

Construction work has started on the the former Christopher Wray Lighting Factory in the centre of Birmingham. The “Wray Building” is one of the most historically interesting empty properties in Birmingham City Centre. It is a complex of buildings which has evolved since 1755 from a row of houses to a light industrial complex.

The new development consists of the refurbishment of the Grade 2 Listed Buildings bringing the historic fabric of the complex of Listed buildings back to life including adding a 15-storey residential tower alongside the listed building.

The existing Grade 2 listed former Christopher Wray Lighting Factory will be sensitively repaired and
converted to form ancillary student facilities, 8nr studio units and offices., alongside a bold new tower with 175 nr high quality student apartments. In addition Leisure space is to be created at the ground floor of the tower.

Castle have been appointed as Cost Consultants by University College Birmingham for their reception and main staircase refurbishment works. The scheme comprises the refurbishment of their main reception area at Summer Row including new turnstiles. Anchor have taken Practical Completion of Phase One of their Retirement Village at Yateley in Hampshire. Castle acted as Contract Administrators on the scheme. Phase One comprised a Care Centre building which includes a restaurant, cafe, library, meeting and craft rooms, wellness centre including a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, gym and dance studio facilities, together with 36 care bedrooms, 17 close care units and 24 linked assisted living units. A further 33 assisted living units have also been completed.

Castle have been appointed as Cost Managers for the new Retirement Village at Warwick for Warwick Gates LLP.

The project consists of the new build of a Village Centre Building and Assisted Living Units in blocks around the site. Phase One of the project is due to start on site in 2015 with completion in 2016.

The Care Centre building which includes a restaurant, cafe, library, meeting and craft rooms, wellness centre including a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, gym and dance studio facilities, together with 49 apartments. A further 118 assisted living units are to be built in blocks around the Care Village building.

Phase One of the project is due to start on site in 2013 with completion in 2014. The completed scheme is to be operated by Anchor 2020 Ltd.
